Safety & Protection

The safety of every student in our care is one of our highest priorities.

At Zealous Youth Ministry, we serve students ranging from high school freshmen to college freshmen. Many of them are minors, and we take the trust their families place in us seriously. We’ve built our ministry with clear standards designed to protect every student — and to create an environment where they can encounter Jesus safely, freely, and with joy.

Leader Screening & Background Checks

Every board member, team leader, and volunteer who works with students is screened before serving. This includes a background check, an interview process, and a review of their character and readiness to lead. We hold our leaders to the Christian standards of conduct described in our Bylaws and Statement of Faith, and anyone who does not meet these standards will not serve in our ministry.

Our Standards of Conduct

All Zealous leaders agree to a code of conduct that protects students, including:

  • The two-adult rule — students are never intentionally left alone one-on-one with a single adult leader in an unsupervised or private setting.

  • Appropriate communication — any direct communication with a minor is conducted in a transparent, group, or parent-included setting rather than private, one-on-one messaging.

  • Clear boundaries — leaders maintain appropriate physical, emotional, and relational boundaries with all students at all times.

  • A culture of accountability — leaders serve in teams and hold one another to these standards.

Reporting Concerns

We are committed to responding quickly and seriously to any concern regarding a student’s safety or well-being. Any suspected abuse, neglect, or misconduct will be reported to the appropriate authorities in accordance with the law. If you ever have a concern, you can reach us directly at zealousyouthconference@gmail.com.

Health & Emergencies

For any event or conference, we ask parents and guardians of minors to provide emergency contact and medical information in advance so we can respond appropriately if a situation arises. Trained team members oversee our events, and we take reasonable steps to ensure a safe environment throughout.

Parental Partnership

We see parents and guardians as partners, not bystanders. We welcome your questions, your involvement, and your input. Before a minor attends a Zealous event or conference, a parent or guardian will be asked to complete and sign the required registration, consent, and release forms. We're always glad to walk you through what participation looks like.

A Note on Participation

Participation in Zealous Youth Ministry events, activities, and conferences is voluntary. While we take every reasonable precaution to provide a safe environment, attendance is subject to the terms of the registration and release forms signed prior to each event. These forms outline the responsibilities of participants and their families and are required for attendance by all students.
